Honesty and a can-do attitude are two of my top qualities. So naturally, when Julie approached me to join her team, I was straightforward. “I’ve essentially been out of the work force for 16 years; I’ve been enjoying watching my kids grow up and teaching fitness classes. I love to type and I’m good with people. Okay, let’s try it!” Opportunity has funny timing and we both took a chance, turns out, it’s Serendipity. Born and raised here, in Santa Cruz, California – this is my home and my happy place.

Q: What are your must have travel items?

A: I bring my water bottle everywhere. I’m the one in line at airport security chugging my water to empty it just in time.

Q: What is your favorite kind of trip? Why?

A: I like to go to new places I’ve never been. It doesn’t matter whether I’m hiking all day (with my water) or lying on the beach. There are so many places in the world to see!

Q: How do you spend your time out of the office?

A: We live on a ranch with emus, cows, chickens, dogs and cats and I’m happiest spending time at home with my furry and feathery friends. I also support our family’s flight school business.

Q: If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?

A: I love to exercise and currently teach group classes. I would enjoy being a personal trainer to get to focus on each person individually. I actually met Julie at the studio where I teach. She takes my early morning classes, so I get to boss her around a few times a week.

Q: What’s the one thing that might surprise others about you?

A: I like to be alone. As much as I love talking and laughing with people, I’m happy to spend time alone getting projects done. This may include singing at the top of my lungs on my tractor.

Q: If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A: I’d love to see the island of Socotra between Yemen and Somalia, where the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. They have some incredible plants found nowhere else on the planet. It would feel like an adventure into another world!

Q: What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?

A: Food. I love food. Healthy food, greasy food, finger food, foreign food. Just please, no olives or pickles.

Q: How do you define success?

A: Happiness with a low level of stress. Don’t worry, be happy!
